What is this qualification?
The Functional Skills qualifications are for anyone who wants to develop their English skills. These courses have been developed to give learners a good command of communication skills: reading, writing, speaking and listening, and can apply these skills in everyday situations.
These qualifications are aimed at learners who do not hold an A-C grade at GCSE Level or learners who's GCSE are more than 5 years old. Functional Skills English is often the first accredited qualification a learner attains in English or can be used to update their skills to be deemed as current.

In order to ascertain what level course you should book, Pavilion Training will book and guide you through an initial assessment which will highlight your individual strengths and areas for improvement. This will be taken into consideration alongside any qualifications you may already hold to ensure you are taking a course at the right level for you.
How is this course assessed?
This course is assessed through a paper based or online assessment in reading and writing at the end of the course. There will also be a speaking and listening assessment which will be held in small groups during the course.
